Why a video download fails and what to check
A public link can fail at different stages: the original post cannot be resolved, the media host refuses the download, or the browser saves the file somewhere unexpected. Identify which stage failed before trying again.
Step 1: Check the original post, not a temporary media URL
Open the original post directly on its platform without logging in. Confirm that you can view it and that you have permission to save the content. A post that was deleted, changed to private, made login-only, or restricted in your region may not resolve here. SaveDownloader does not bypass those access restrictions.
Step 2: Use the matching platform page
Instagram Reels, photos, and supported carousels belong in the Instagram Downloader. Use the Douyin Downloader for supported public Douyin links, including compatible short shares, and the TikTok Downloader for supported public TikTok posts. Copy the original share link again if text or punctuation was accidentally included.
Step 3: Identify the error stage
The link is rejected immediately
Check that the link begins with HTTPS and points to the supported platform. Profile pages, Instagram Stories, private pages, and URLs from unrelated hosts are not supported. A copied short link must redirect to a supported public post.
The post opens, but SaveDownloader cannot resolve it
The source platform may have changed its public page format, limited access from the service, or stopped exposing usable media data. Try the original public link again later; repeated submissions of the same inaccessible post will not make private content available. If the issue persists, use the contact page and report the platform, approximate time, and visible error message. Do not send private URLs or credentials.
The result appears, but the download does not start
Some media hosts issue short-lived URLs or reject requests from particular networks. Resolve the original post again to request fresh media information. The downloader may attempt a supported server-side delivery route, but success depends on the source host. Do not interpret a displayed preview as proof that a full file can be delivered.
The download starts, but I cannot find the file
On iPhone or iPad, check Safari's Downloads view and the Files app. On Android, check your browser's download manager and the Downloads folder. On Windows or Mac, check your browser's downloads history, configured download folder, and any permission prompts. Browser behavior varies by version and device.
An Instagram carousel ZIP fails
ZIP creation requires the browser to retrieve each supported item and assemble it in memory. A temporarily unavailable item or an unusually large carousel can interrupt the ZIP. Download available items individually instead, or try the original public post again if its media URLs expired.
Platform-specific checks
Douyin: temporary share links can redirect to a public post. If an older link has expired, copy a fresh share link from the original post. See the Douyin short-link guide.

When to contact support
