How to download Instagram videos, photos, and carousel posts

How to download an Instagram Reel or video

Copy the original public Reel or video post URL, paste it into SaveDownloader, and select Get media. If Instagram exposes a downloadable public video to logged-out visitors, the result shows a video preview and a Download video button. Select it to start the browser download.

How to download an Instagram photo

For a supported public image post, paste the original post URL into the Instagram downloader and select Get media. When the public image is available, select Download photo. Your browser controls the final save location.

How to download an Instagram carousel

When Instagram exposes all items from a public carousel, SaveDownloader displays the resolved photos and videos as separate cards. You can download an individual item or select Download all (.zip) to fetch the resolved carousel media and package it into a single ZIP file.

The ZIP approach avoids browser restrictions that can interfere when several separate downloads are started at almost the same time.

Downloading on iPhone or iPad

Copy the public Instagram link and open SaveDownloader in Safari or another modern browser. Paste the URL, resolve the post, then choose the available download action. iOS typically exposes completed downloads through Safari's downloads interface or the Files app, depending on your settings.

Downloading on Android

Copy the public Instagram post or Reel link and open the Instagram downloader in Chrome or another modern browser. After resolving the post, select the available photo, video, or ZIP download. Android normally stores the file in the browser's configured Downloads location.

Downloading on Windows or Mac

Copy the canonical Instagram URL from your browser or the share interface, paste it into SaveDownloader, and select Get media. Download the resolved item or ZIP. Your desktop browser may save automatically or ask where to store the file.

Which Instagram links work?

SaveDownloader is intended for supported public Instagram post and Reel URLs, including common www.instagram.com/p/SHORTCODE/ and www.instagram.com/reel/SHORTCODE/ links. Compatible legacy /tv/SHORTCODE/ pages can also work when Instagram still exposes the public page.

Stories, Highlights, private posts, profiles, login-only pages, paywalled content, DRM-protected content, and other access-controlled media are not supported.

Why can an Instagram download fail?

Instagram can change the structure of its public pages, restrict a post, remove it, or stop exposing media to logged-out visitors. Temporary CDN URLs can also expire. If a public post worked earlier but later fails, submit the original Instagram permalink again so SaveDownloader can request fresh public media information.

Why keep the original Instagram link?

The downloaded photo or video may come from a temporary Instagram or Meta media host rather than the original post URL. Keeping the original permalink lets you resolve the post again if the temporary media address changes or expires.

Common problems and fixes

The public post cannot be resolved

Confirm that the post still opens publicly without signing in. If the post is private, deleted, restricted, or login-only, SaveDownloader cannot resolve it.

The download button returns an error

Resolve the original post again to request fresh media information. Public platform behavior and CDN delivery can change without notice.

A carousel does not show every item

SaveDownloader only displays carousel items that Instagram exposes in the public response. If the individual items are not available publicly, SaveDownloader does not invent or substitute missing media.

The downloaded file is not where expected

Your browser and operating system control the final download location. Check your browser's download history or your device's Downloads folder.

Responsible use

Use SaveDownloader only for public media you own, created, have permission to save, or otherwise have a lawful basis to download. A technically available file does not automatically grant permission to republish, redistribute, or monetize someone else's work.
